A massively popular retailer announced this week that it will be cutting about 1,800 jobs.
This large cut will impact employees worldwide.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Target confirmed on Thursday it will let go roughly 1,000 global employees in its corporate sector. The retail chain will additionally cut 800 open roles.
This, the Wall Street Journal adds, will reduce Target’s corporate workforce by about eight percent as the company attempts to deal with lackluster sales.
“The truth is, the complexity we’ve created over time has been holding us back,” said Michael Fiddelke, soon-to-be Target’s Chief Executive Officer, via a staff memo. “Too many lawyers and overlapping work have slowed decisions, making it harder to bring ideas to life.”
