A campaigning local carer has scooped a top national award after being recognised for her work in disability rights and fuel poverty.
Tillicoultry’s Carolynne Hunter has been leading the charge on issues after making headlines in 2022 for protesting against soaring fuel bills while trying to look after teenage daughter Freya, who has severe cerebral palsy and chronic breathing problems.
Her plight saw her case come to the attention of Hollywood actress Kate Winslet, who generously donated £17,000 towards Ms Hunter’s fight to help keep her daughter’s life-saving equipment running.
