CANFIELD Canfield Police and the Ohio Attorney General have charged a suspect in connection with a rape and kidnapping that allegedly took place in 2000.
A man recently released after serving 9 years in prison for rape and burglary in Trumbull County is behind bars again, for an alleged kidnapping and rape in Canfield 25 years ago.
Fifty-seven-year-old Jack Sheetz, formerly of Canfield, was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Akron, according to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost.
The Mahoning County Grand Jury issued a sealed indictment against Sheetz earlier this week.
The assault, which occurred in November 2000, was initially investigated by the Canfield Police Department. The Special Prosecutions Section of the Attorney General’s Office will handle the case.
