NEW ORLEANS — Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc is accepting for its annual student Joan of Arc competition. The winner will serve as Maid of Honor and lead the krewe of Joan of Arc 2026 parade on horseback.
The krewe is accepting applications online.
The contest is open to young women ages 16 to 19 in New Orleans, according to the organization.
The winning Maid of Honor will ride on horseback as the namesake of the annual French Quarter Joan of Arc Parade on January 6, 2026. The contest is modeled after the selection held each year in Orléans, France, where a local girl is selected to lead a military parade celebrating Joan of Arc’s 1429 victory lifting the siege of Orléans from the British.
In addition to leading the French Quarter parade on Twelfth Night, the Maid of Honor will receive a travel
