Here’s a rare opportunity for you to attend a film and conversation with soon-to-depart LA Phil musical and artistic director Gustavo Dudamel , along with filmmaker Maria Valverde and DJ Kurs, artistic director of Deaf West Theatre . The free event takes place at 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10 at Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles.
The evening starts with an 8 p.m. screening of María Valverde’s “El Canto de las Manos (Song of Hands),” a film about three deaf musicians from Venezuela preparing to perform Beethoven’s only opera — “Fidelio” — for the first time in sign language.
