Locals have been evacuated from several buildings in a major city centre this afternoon following reports of an "earthquake-like feeling" as a tower block partially collapsed.

The building, in Manchester's city centre near Bridge Street, was reportedly earmarked for demolition when part of the structure dramatically fell away with a rumble.

One Manchester resident who works nearby said they experienced a "strong earthquake like feeling" before emergency services rushed to the scene and evacuated nearby buildings. 17:52 Liam Doyle
