A former California corrections sergeant from Martinez was arraigned Thursday on multiple counts of lewd acts involving children, the Contra Costa County District Attorney said.
William Daniel Eberly, 44, is facing charges of forcible lewd acts on a child under 14, and lewd acts on a child aged 14 or 15.
The alleged offenses took place between Nov. 1, 2020 and Dec. 12, 2024, against two girls, prosecutors said. Eberly was employed as a correctional sergeant with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation at the time of his arrest.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges at his arraignment on Thursday. Bail was set at $1.02 million.
A preliminary hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Nov. 3 in Department 22 at the A.F. Bray Courthouse in Martinez.
