St. Tammany Parish Coroner Christopher Tape has released the cause of death in the recent death of a 4-year-old girl near Abita Springs.
Janna Haynes died due to multiple blunt force injuries, coroner's spokesperson James Hartman said Friday. Tape previously determined the manner of death to be homicide, saying in a news release that her injuries "are not consistent with any sort of accident."
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office on Thursday said it had arrested Janna's 21-year-old brother in connection with her death. Davahn Alec Profit had initially been booked with attempted murder. But in a news release Thursday the Sheriff's Office said a warrant for first-degree murder was issued for Profit after the child died in a hospital.
