An applicant is exploring whether a new housing development can be built on green belt land in a Solihull village.

Mrs Maddy has lodged an application to Solihull Council for permission in principle for the building of up to nine homes on land in Barston Lane, Catherine De Barnes .

The ‘permission in principle’ rule, which was brought in to speed-up housebuilding, asks planners if they judge land suitable for development.

In a statement included in the application planning agents Rural Solutions say in its professional opinion the land is grey belt – lower quality green belt land suitable for housing.
