CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Outside Bon Air Library in Chesterfield is a path next to the road, which serves as an example of what county leaders hope to implement as part of their Active Transportation Plan.
“This is one that will get people off of the road, have a separate facility just for biking, walking, somebody using a wheelchair,” said JJ Banuelos, senior transportation engineer in Chesterfield.
The Active Transportation Plan is an update to the county’s Bikeways and Trails Plan , which was adopted in 2015.
“With how much Chesterfield has grown over the past few years and how much more information is readily available to come up with a new network, Chesterfield is taking this time to relook at the plan,” Banuelos said.
