Calgary’s municipal election results are now official and nothing has changed in terms of who won the 14 council races and the mayor’s chair.
The City of Calgary officially confirmed the results this week, following a preliminary recount in Ward 12 that led to ballot account corrections under the Local Authorities Election Act.
Jeromy Farkas secured the mayoral seat, returning to City Hall after previously serving as a councillor. The 14 wards saw a mix of incumbents and new faces.
Mayoral candidate Sonya Sharp has asked for a recount of the mayor’s race, with Farkas winning by only 581 votes —less than 2 per cent of the total ballots.
Voter turnout reached 39.04 per cent, with 349,815 ballots cast out of 896,042 eligible electors. Turnout was down from just over 46 per cent in the pre
