Bella Watson is right into Game of Thrones at the moment.
The books, that is, otherwise known as A Song of Ice and Fire . She's only 17, and her mother has told her she can read the infamously gory books, but not watch the even more gory television series.
"I have to wait until I'm 18 to watch it," she says.
But, she adds, reading it is just as good.
Bella is one of a large cohort of book-loving friends who, she says, have no trouble balancing reading books with scrolling on their phones.
Her friend Ava O'Donnell is one of them. She recently read Plato's Republic , and enjoyed it. She also likes Patrick Suskind's Perfume , and Arthur Miller's The Crucible , both on her school's syllabus.
But the more she reads, she says, the more she enjoys the process beyond the classroom.
