SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- The state has released 13 proposed sites for a new Springfield courthouse, marking a significant step forward in replacing the current Roderick Ireland Courthouse that has faced years of health complaints from employees.

Ten different proposers submitted bids for the new facility, with Park View South LLC responsible for four of the potential locations. The proposed sites are scattered across Springfield and include the current courthouse site at 50 State Street.

For years, employees at the Roderick Ireland Courthouse have complained about health issues, including toxic mold within the building. “They come in day after day not feeling well and that’s just not right,” said Hampden County Clerk of Courts Laura Gentile.
