The injury-plagued Vancouver Canucks needed some NHL help and they finally found some on Friday afternoon, adding Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks in a trade.
Going to the Windy City is a 2027 fourth-round pick.
To make room on the roster, the Canucks put Teddy Blueger on injured reserve, retroactive to last Monday. The veteran centre was injured against the Washington Capitals last Monday.
In practical terms, Reichel fills an obvious need: he plays centre and wing. He’s also a speedy player, with a decent amount of skill.
The Canucks are working to get him to Vancouver in time for Saturday’s home game vs. the Montreal Canadiens, president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford confirmed to Postmedia on Friday.
