MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Safe Task Force said it arrested a documented gang member who was in the U.S. illegally, after he allegedly tried to kidnap a woman at gunpoint.
Francisco Lopez-Altamerana, 38, was taken into custody Wednesday.
The task force said he has an active order of removal from the country and will be deported for the third time.
On Wednesday, authorities say Lopez-Altamerana tried to kidnap a woman who was walking on the street with her children. She filed a report with the Memphis Police Department.
Task force members caught him as he walked out of a business on Jackson Avenue. There was a brief foot pursuit before he was taken into custody.
He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, domestic violence, felony theft and failure to appear. Authorities say
