An MP championing the WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality) cause has insisted that women born during the 1950s must receive the compensation "they are rightly owed". Liberal Democrat MP Ben Maguire made his remarks during a Westminster Hall debate on Tuesday, October 21, concerning Labour's plans to roll out digital ID.
He had recently left a meeting with WASPI activists who were running a drop-in session within Parliament. MPs were debating the advantages and potential expenses of digital ID.
SNP MP Pete Wishart referenced estimates suggesting that establishing digital ID could cost anywhere from £1.2 billion to £2 billion, although Mr Wishart described this as a "gross underestimate".
