HENDERSON, Texas — A child was injured after what police believe to be an accidental shooting in Henderson Friday afternoon.

Chase Berryhill, Henderson deputy chief of police, said officers responded to a report of a child with a gunshot wound in the 800 block of South Main Street around 12:30 p.m.

The child was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. Their injuries are considered non-life threatening at this time.

Berryhill said the incident is being investigated as an accidental shooting.

There is no concern for public safety and no information on the child will be released at this time, he said.
