In late 2023, members of boards of health for Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington Public Health, Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health and Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit formed a committee to begin exploring a merger after the province offered to cover the costs of voluntary mergers to help consolidate services in small catchment areas.
