A luxury residential high-rise for the wealthy and powerful on Park Avenue is facing some serious architectural concerns.
342 Park Ave. was designed to be the jewel of “Billionaire’s Row.”
Built in 2015, it was the tallest residential building in the world. It’s now the fifth-tallest building in the city.
But now, some residents and developers are sounding the alarm about structural and other issues — including the concrete facade crumbling, leaks and elevators getting stuck, which led to a years-long legal battle and drove down property values.
An extensive investigation by The New York Times this week delves into the building, whose problems began well before the first owners moved into their million-dollar condos.
