MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - An investigation into a 311 complaint led to the discovery of a fully-operational chop shop in the Frayser area this week.
Two men are now charged.
Earnest Dandridge, 63, and Kevin Carter, 36, are both charged with auto theft, fraudulently altering a serial number, prohibited chop shop operation, and license plate theft.
The Memphis Police Department says the illegal chop shop was uncovered late Thursday morning at a home in the 1900 block of Pinedale Avenue.
Police say they worked alongside code enforcement officers who were investigating a complaint.
On the property, investigators found stolen vehicles, vehicle parts, transmissions, motors, and tools used to dismantle cars for profit.
“Chop shops fuel the auto theft cycle by giving thieves a place to profit,”
