COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A new exhibit in Columbia is honoring the art of Dr. Seuss.

The Rob Shaw Gallery, located at 2123 Park Street, has several pieces on display from the Dr. Seuss collection.

It showcases different pieces, including book illustrations and sculptures.

“The public is familiar with the cat in the hat and thing one thing two, but the midnight paintings, the ones he did for his own purpose, I think they’re one of the purest forms of his art,” said Rob Shaw, owner of Rob Shaw Framing and Gallery.

“They’re the ones where he’s searching for things that he likes and he’s got cool imagery, but they’re not necessarily meant for illustration like a book illustration, so they’re I think you get a good insight into his personality.”
