CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - After an assessment was done back in August, the company that performed the analysis recommended that Cabell County Emergency Services (EMS) raise their service rates.

The recommended amount was 350% but Cabell County EMS settled at about a 180 to 200% raise in rates instead.

Cabell County EMS Director Veronica Swope said their rates were significantly lower than other ambulance services in our region, and have not been raised since 2022 before now.

“I think sometimes people don’t understand how expensive it is,” Swope said.

The raises impact the different ambulance services levels, but Swope said about 60% of the people in our area won’t notice any changes.
