GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - An Alachua County Public Schools teacher is fighting to save her teaching certificate after Florida’s education commissioner found probable cause that she bullied a student by awarding him the “ Most Likely to Become a Dictator ” superlative.

Gainesville High School history teacher Lauren Watts filed a motion on Friday to have the administrative complaint accusing her of bullying thrown out. Her attorneys argue the state failed to give her the opportunity to defend herself.

Due Process Concerns

The filing showed letters from the state, one dated Aug. 21, informing her of the investigation and giving her the opportunity to provide evidentiary witnesses and documents within two weeks.
