SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - The Sparks City Attorney has announced a 30-day suspended sentence for a man convicted of domestic battery.
Andrew Matney was convicted of one count of domestic battery stemming from an incident that occurred on April 2 of last year.
On April 6, 2024, officers with the Sparks Police Department were called to an apartment in Sparks to check on the welfare of a woman after a family friend reported they had gotten a text message saying she had been physically abused by Matney.
Matney consented to a search, and officers found a woman in the bedroom with visible injuries.
The victim said the incident had happened four days prior when she and Matney were intoxicated. She told police she had made remarks that made Matney angry. He then punched her.
