A Texas federal judge on Thursday swatted down a legal challenge to California 's mid-decade redistricting ballot initiative because the pro- Donald Trump plaintiff simply lacked the standing to sue.
In the case, Rep. Ronny Jackson — a Republican from Amarillo who previously served as Trump's White House doctor — sued Golden State Gov. Gavin Newsom and Secretary of State Shirley Weber in late August over the Election Rigging Response Act (ERRA).
The ERRA is a piece of dynamic legislation that amends California's constitution and redraws the state's congressional maps to favor Democrats if, and only if, Texas first moves forward with its own controversial mid-decade redistricting process to favor Republicans.
