Marea Wachsman, a past president of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association (BWBA) and the immediate past president of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (WBASNY), was named the 2025 recipient of the Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Vanguard Award by the Trial Lawyers Section of the New York State Bar Association.

The award was presented on Oct. 22 during a virtual ceremony and continuing legal education program.

Established in honor of the late Supreme Court justice, the Vanguard Award celebrates trial attorneys who have used advocacy and leadership to expand access to justice and dismantle systemic barriers, while reflecting Justice Ginsburg’s lifelong pursuit of fairness and equal opportunity.
