JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A transition years in the making is about to occur as John Sevier Center's residents prepare to move from the century-old former hotel to a brand new apartment complex barely a mile away, but light years different.

Johnson City Development Authority (JCDA) commissioners learned Friday that LHP Capital should get its certificate of occupancy for "The Tapestry at Roan Hill," a $31 million replacement for the Sevier Center's 145 elderly and low-income residents.

LHP Capital's CEO of Development, Alvin Nance, delivered the news to commissioners. The day before, the man who's helped shepherd the transition since late 2020 stood outside the new three-story Tapestry as workers busily applied themselves to late-stage preparations.
