Farahana Kassam never thought she’d be center stage; never thought she’d be in front of a camera. Breast cancer changed that.

“It never was something that I would ever have imagined,” Kassam said. “You know, if I were to think back on the day that I received that phone call to say, ‘You have breast cancer.'”

Kassam battled breast cancer not once, but twice. “I had a double mastectomy,” Kassam said. “You’re doing good, girl.” Michell Gibson said, sitting beside her. “You’re doing good.”

Gibson is a dancer. She was paired with Kassam for the ‘Tell Her Story’ project, an exhibit that tells the lived breast cancer experiences through dance, performance, and visual art of 6 Women of Color who are paired with 6 Artists of Color.
