OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Cybersecurity threats are increasing daily, but students at Bellevue West High School are learning to identify and avoid those threats.
Now they’re seeing how they stack up against other kids across the country.
First Alert 6 met with the students to find out more about the skills and career foundations they’re developing.
Bellevue students in their CyberPatriot Club are given a real-world example of a cybersecurity threat, and then have three hours to secure the computer against that attack.
Junior, Derek Buchholz, joined the CyberPatriots Club only two years ago.
“Well, it’s one of my favorite activities to have done at this school because I feel that I have learned so many things that can actually apply to my real life,” Derek said.
