FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - At this year’s Indiana NAACP state conference held in Fort Wayne, many members spoke out against data centers, like the one Google is currently building in eastern Allen County.

Reverend Dr. Saharra Bledsoe was one of those members.

“My main concern is about what it could do to the environment, you know, and the hazards that it can cause,” she said.

The director for Environmental and Climate Justice of the national NAACP, Abre’ Conner, Esq., said unsafe drinking water and air pollution are two potential hazards.

“This is an opportunity for us to get ahead of some of these data center fights at a hyperlocal level that will show up in a national way,” she said.
