DEDHAM, Mass. —
A birthday celebration, a century in the making, was held on Friday.
Eight residents at Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham all celebrated their 100th birthdays.
"It sort of snuck up on me," one resident, Jerry Wynerm, said. "I was never paying too much attention and then all of a sudden."
Jay Berkson, on the other hand, says he's kept count.
"I'm a hundred and two-thirds, " he said. "I'm counting every day now!"
The eight centenarians have a lot of life between them. All have lived through Watergate, the Great Depression, and World War II, just to name a few memorable events.
And all of them have advice on how to reach this type of longevity.
"Just take care of yourself, eat well, keep up a routine," Joan Warshaw said.
"I keep myself busy, I'm still a lifetime lear
