BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) - The cold weather is settling in, and while snow and icy roads cause the majority of issues on roadways, cooler temperatures can also cause fog to form.
“We’re moving into autumn, getting closer to winter, and slick roads can be an issue. Rain, fallen leaves can create slippery roads that reduce traction and increase stopping distances. Reducing your speed can definitely increase your safety,” said Brian Ortner, public affairs representative for AAA Iowa.
Police say dense fog likely played a significant role in a deadly crash on US 67 in Bettendorf on Friday morning.
Safety tips for foggy conditions
When driving in foggy conditions, drivers should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination.
