COLUMBIA, S.C. — Two former top officials with the South Carolina Election Commission are out of jail after being charged with criminal offenses related to their time at the agency.

Former Executive Director Howard Knapp and Former Deputy Director Paige Solanich walked out of the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center Friday afternoon following their bond hearings. Both appeared in court earlier in the day on charges filed by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). The two were given what's known as a personal recognizance bond, which means they didn't have to pay money to be released from jail.
