CRANSTON, R.I. (WJAR) - A Rhode Island man is in custody after police say he broke into a home, then ran from the scene and barricaded himself inside a Taco Bell freezer.

Cranston police were called after witnesses saw a man running in and out of traffic with a knife on Thursday.

When police arrived, they evacuated the restaurant and ordered the man to come out.

He refused, leading to a brief struggle, before officers took him into custody.

Investigators said he also tried to break into other homes nearby and that a juvenile inside one house fought him off with a knife.

The man was identified as 38-year-old Thu Chau. He faces multiple charges, including breaking and entering, vandalism and obstructing police.
