Famous Footwear has announced it will be shutting down at the turn of the new year.

The retailer of women’s shoes announced on Monday that its online store will be taken down just before midnight on December 31, with physical stores shutting their doors soon after.

The company had 17 retail stores with more than 200 employees across Queensland , NSW and Victoria , according to Famous Footwear’s LinkedIn page.

“It’s with sadness we announce the end of our journey,” a statement reads.

“We have loved helping you find your famous fit for more than 25 years. We’re truly grateful for the loyalty and support from our community over the years.”

The statement concluded with news of a closing down sale having been launched from 7am on Monday.
