WILLIAMSPORT — A federal prosecutor is seeking significant jail sentences for three former Mount Carmel police officers who admitted being part of a conspiracy to assault detainees and cover up the evidence.

Assistant U.S. Attorney C.D. Marchioli in a memorandum filed Thursday in U.S. Middle District Court recommends prison sentences of seven years for retired Lt. David J. Donkochik , six years for Jonathan M. McHugh and four years for Kyle Schauer.

Judge Matthew W. Brann on Friday notified the parties he accepted the plea agreements cap on sentences that are 8 years, 1 month for Donkochik and McHugh and four years for Schauer.
