The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Monday (October 27, 2025) a petition filed by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) seeking criminal contempt action against advocate Rakesh Kishore for hurling an object , which appeared to be a rolled-up sheaf of papers, at Chief Justice of India B. R. Gavai who was presiding in court on October 6.
A Bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi will hear the SCBA petition, which will be represented by president and senior advocate Vikas Singh.
Mr. Singh had earlier made an oral mentioning before Justice Kant, apprising the latter that Attorney General R. Venkataramani had consented to the initiation of contempt proceedings .
However, Justice Kant had observed that Mr. Kishore’s act was not worth dwelling on, and it should be allowed
