CADILLAC — The Salvation Army in Cadillac is getting ready gearing up for people expected to lose their snap food assistance benefits starting in November because of the federal government shutdown.

The non-profit said they started planning weeks ago.

People who rely on snap food assistance come from all walks of life, from single mothers, to families, seniors, and the disabled.

He said some are able to work and some are not.

“That’s going to be a really, really tough situation for a lot of families in our community. You know, hopeful that maybe something’s going to happen at the 11th hour, and it won’t happen.
