Chennai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a significant weather update, confirming that a low-pressure area has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal, signalling a period of intensified rainfall for Tamil Nadu. The system, which developed at 5:30 AM yesterday, is tracking west-northwestwards and is expected to influence weather patterns across the state and the Union Territory of Puducherry over the next several days.

This development comes on the heels of widespread rainfall that already drenched several parts of the state yesterday, causing waterlogging in urban areas including Madurai and Sivaganga. The new weather system is set to enhance rainfall activity, particularly in northern and coastal districts.
