Four people were shot near Howard University’s campus in D.C. as thousands descended on the campus for homecoming activities, the Metropolitan Police Department and D.C. Fire and EMS Department officials confirmed.
Police said they responded to reports of shots fired around 8:23 p.m. on the 600 block of Howard Place NW, near the university’s Yard and the School of Architecture building.
A spokesperson for D.C. Fire said they transported four people with gunshot wounds.
Police have not confirmed whether a suspect or suspects were apprehended.
