Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a man who fell into a trash compactor at his place of work Thursday evening, Nassau County police said.
Police responded to a call to aid a man who fell into the machinery at Arrow Linen Supply Co. in Garden City around 10:14 p.m., police said.
The employee, Michael Rutledge, 42 of Baldwin, was transported to a hospital, where a physician pronounced him dead, according to police.
Nassau police are investigating Rutledge’s death along with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the police department said.
