NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) entered a not guilty plea during an arraignment in Norfolk federal court Friday morning.
James exited the courthouse at 11:45 a.m. and held a press conference about the case. She first thanked those who have supported her.
"This is not about me. This is about all of us and about a justice system that has been weaponized. A justice system which has been used as a tool of revenge," she told the crowd gathered.
James was in court on mortgage fraud charges. A federal grand jury indicted James earlier this month. The case centers around a home in Norfolk. She's accused of buying the home in 2020 with the understanding that she was the sole person to live there.
Prosecutors allege that James instead used the home as a rental p
