Minnesota Duluth graduate student Shaelyn Hostager finished third and so did her team in the women’s race at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference cross country championships, contested on Friday in Wayne, Nebraska.

In a field of 139 runners over 6 kilometers, Hostager, a transfer from Division III Wartburg, finished in 21 minutes, 57.1 seconds, less than 30 seconds behind individual champ Sophia Taarud of Winona State. The Warriors also won the team championship, putting all five of their scoring runners in the top nine. Minnesota State Mankato was second.

Junior Ellie Hanowski and senior Kira Almsberger each had a top-20 finish, taking 12th in 22:27.3 and 18th in 22:50.1, respectively.
