LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Ford Motor Company is working to prop up the Kentucky Truck Plant by investing $60 million and adding jobs there to make up for delays in production.
Those disruptions followed a major fire last month at the Novelis aluminum plant in New York, which Ford relies on to produce some of its most popular and profitable vehicles.
In a quarterly earnings report this week, the automaker revealed the issue is costing them about $1 billion.
To offset this, the company announced it'll be making 5,000 more F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks at KTP next year, and adding 100 new employees.
The belief is selling more super duties will help make up for the cost of what Ford is losing in production after the aluminum plant fire.
Ford CEO Jim Farley said he's since visited the facility
