DODGEVILLE, Wis. (WKOW) — Three men and a juvenile have been charged in the August attack of a 14-year-old African American boy at a barn party in Iowa County.
According to court records, Carson G. Knight, 18; Richard O. Offerdahl III, 20; and Claudio J. Valdivia, 17, were formally charged following a three-month investigation. A fourth suspect, a juvenile, has also been charged but is not being named because of his age. The charges were filed Oct. 23.
Attorney B'Ivory LaMarr, representing the victim and his family, said the charges are "a critical first step toward justice." He added that the family will continue seeking accountability for all involved and called for greater transparency and equal application of justice in Iowa County and across Wisconsin.
