A piece of the district's heritage is creating plenty of buzz after hitting the market.

The Dungowan Union Church has been listed for sale through Knight Frank Tamworth.

Nestled adjacent to one of the oldest properties in the district, the land on which it stands was once part of the historic Dungowan Station.

In 1904, it was gifted to the church by the owners of the station at the time, Leslie and Marion Sprague, to replace the original Union Church built in 1873.

The current double-brick and iron structure was built in 1907.

A plaque and window, donated by the Sprague family in 1988, commemorate that.

At some stage in the 118 years since, one of the owners of Dungowan Station has purchased it.
