The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women’s basketball team opened a new Canada West season with an 80-70 defeat at the hands of the University of Calgary Dinos on Friday night at Co-op Centre for Sport & Wellness.
“Really good first effort,” said Dave Waknuk, Horns head coach.
“That’s a tough team, that’ll be a team that’ll be playing for medals at the end and I think for us to come out first game … and hang with these guys and hang as long as we did, I really like it.”
Waknuk liked the chemistry through the 15 assists that were produced in the game.
“That’s a great number in our league, it means we’re sharing the ball, it means we’re finding scorers,” said Waknuk.
The Horns had multiple players with double figures in points.
