JAMESTOWN — Liam Frey entered his last-ever high school football game 137 yards away from a 1,000-yard rushing season.
The Jamestown High School senior walked away with 147 rushing yards.
"I've got this picture of him when he was in fifth grade hitting a wobble dummy," JHS head football coach Bill Nelson said. "It's is total unleashed ferocity. Every time I look at Liam, I see that kid."
Frey's talent on the ground aided the Jays in a barn-burner Friday night against Bismarck St. Mary's. The Saints held on to win the tilt 33-19 and will go on to play in the opening round of the Class AA playoffs next week. The Blue Jays will not go on to play in the postseason. Jamestown ended the year at 1-8.
