TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - SNAP benefits will be on hold for November unless the state gets money from the federal government.

That probably won’t happen as the Trump Administration on Friday said it won’t use contingency funds to fund the programs during the government shutdown. And according to reports, Arizona can’t afford to fund the programs.

Brenda Joanne Underwood has received food assistance from the government for more than 15 years, and said programs like SNAP have saved her.

“I mean they definitely help a lot,” Underwood said. “I don’t get much considering I’m a single mom and I’m on disability, but the little bit that I do get, it really does help us.”
