A homicide suspect was arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a man in Riverside County.

The suspect was identified as Rafael Moreno, 59, of Coachella, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.

On Sept. 21, deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon near the intersection of Calle Limon and Genoa Street in Coachella shortly after 11:30 a.m.

Deputies found the victim, Enrique Arrieta, 51, of Coachella, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooter had fled the area before authorities arrived. Following an investigation, detectives identified Moreno as the suspected gunman.
